Proposition 8: Elimination of Same Sex Marriage (+ Keith Olbermann video)

Proposition 8:

ELIMINATES RIGHT OF SAME–SEX COUPLES TO MARRY. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.

  • Changes the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California.
  • Provides that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

——————–

It is my personal belief that homosexuality is wrong. I have never, and never will be ashamed to state that. I believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman. That is my personal belief but I do not allow that belief to lead me into judgment and ridicule of people. My belief does not give me the right to judge how other people live their lives, to each his/her own. I don’t agree with gay marriage; however who am I to say that it should be banned? Who am I to say that gay marriages should not be recognized by the state, by the country, by the world?

Below is the video in which Keith Olbermann shares his views on Proposition 8. It is an amazing video, and Olbermann really gives his own, heartfelt words on banning gay marriage.

  1. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

Who you sleep with and who you marry is YOUR business. You can lick, suck and stick whomever you want to. As long as you respect me as a person, I’ll respect you back.

John 13:34 : A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

Some folks musta missed that…and you can BET the folks who voted for this (most of them) claimed to be Christians.

  2. BGT I love that you can express yourself and speak your truth. And despite how you feel, you still believe that people should be allowed to live the lives they choose to live no matter what that means.

It doesn’t make any sense to me that we can actually vote on whether or not people can have a recognized union in this country. How can we decide for other people how to live their lives? It’s so senseless and it is proof that we’ve still have so much farther to go when it comes to rights for all in this country and in the world.
